Sullivan gives Bruce a bonus
Birmingham co-owner David Sullivan has promised another major influx of new signings in the summer.
Blues manager Steve Bruce has brought in four players during the January transfer window – plus a possible fifth in Jermaine Pennant if his loan deal from Arsenal eventually goes through.
Bruce is also interested in signing Newcastle defender Olivier Bernard with talks ongoing between the clubs.
But that will not stop more new blood heading into St Andrews in the close season with Sullivan recognising the problems that Bruce has had with injuries to key players this season.
He said: “The injuries we have had this season had made it difficult. We lost Mikael Forssell for the season and have been without David Dunn for a long period of time.
“Muzzy Izzet picked up a knee injury and Stan Lazaridis has missed most of the first half of the season.
“Added to that, we are still disappointed by what Robbie Savage has done to us but life has to go on and Birmingham is much bigger than any one player.
“To lose so many key players has made it difficult but, on behalf of the board, I would like to reassure everybody that we will be bringing in more new players again in the summer and will aim to continue strengthening our squad.”
