Faye beds down with Magpies

Newcastle boss Graeme Souness today secured his third signing of this transfer window after Portsmouth midfielder Amdy Faye completed his medical.

The 27-year-old has signed a four-year deal after agreeing personal terms and will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s FA Cup fourth-round clash with Coventry.

“We are delighted to have him on board and he will be a really valuable addition to our squad,” said Souness.

“Amdy is a defensive midfield player which is an area we have been looking to strengthen.”
