Richardson gets full-time job

Notts County midfielder Ian Richardson has been confirmed as the Magpies player-manager until the end of the season.

Richardson was appointed as replacement for Gary Mills, who was sacked as manager in November.

And in the 13 matches since, Richardson has won five, lost five and drawn three with the Magpies currently lying fifth bottom of the League Two table.

Richardson told the club’s official website, www.nottscountyfc.co.uk: “I’m delighted to have landed the job full-time and I’d like to thank the lads for their efforts so far, plus the coaching staff too.

“The effort and desire has been fantastic from everyone at the club and hopefully now everything’s sorted out, we can build on what we’ve already achieved.”

A player at Meadow Lane since his arrival from Birmingham for a £200,000 (€286,000) fee in March 1996, Richardson is currently sidelined following surgery on a knee injury which has restricted him to just 12 first-team appearances so far this season.
