Agents fees delay Blake move

Burnley chairman Barry Kilby has revealed that Robbie Blake’s move to Birmingham has hit a snag due to agents fees.

The 28-year-old Clarets skipper has undergone a medical and has agreed personal terms at St Andrews with reports suggesting the £1.5m (€2.1m) deal had been completed before Blues’ 2-1 defeat by Bolton on Tuesday.

But Kilby has denied that the deal has gone through and told BBC Radio Lancashire: “There are still negotiations going on between Birmingham and Robbie’s agent.

“That seems to be the stumbling block. Agents fees can be big things. The ball’s in their (Birmingham’s) court now and it’s up to them to agree a deal with Robbie and his personal representatives.”

Birmingham, who cannot field the player until the visit to Charlton on January 15 at the earliest, are not worried by the delay.

A club spokesman said: “We don’t expect there to be a problem. It’s just taking a little bit longer than we thought.”
