Villa withdraw interest in Faye

Aston Villa have today officially withdrawn interest in Portsmouth midfielder Amdy Faye, with boss David O'Leary saying he preferred to pursue other targets.

Club officials yesterday refused to comment on reports that the Senegal international was set for a £2m (€2.8m) switch from Fratton Park, but Pompey have this morning been informed that Villa will not be pursuing an interest in the combative midfielder.
