Gaardsoe: Survival mission is possible

West Brom defender Thomas Gaardsoe has defiantly insisted the Baggies can beat the drop despite languishing five points adrift of safety.

Gaardsoe says there is no air of resignation around The Hawthorns as they prepare to meet Manchester City today just 48 hours after their St Stephen's Day mauling by Liverpool.

One point from seven games under Bryan Robson has left virtually everybody condemning Albion to another quick exit from the top-flight.

But Gaardsoe said: “We still have to believe we can get results and turn things around because other results seem to go our way.

“We knew it was going to be a hard season but the last month or two have not been what we expected because we thought we would have more points.”

Robson resisted laying into his side after the 5-0 embarrassment against the Reds and instead urged them to rebuild their shattered confidence.
