Sweden star keen on Spurs switch
Tottenham have been linked with a move for Sweden star Christian Wilhelmsson.
The 25-year-old Anderlecht left or right-sided midfielder has been likened to Arsenal’s Freddie Ljungberg and admits he would love to join his fellow countryman in north London.
Wilhelmsson told The Sun: “Tottenham will suit me perfectly. It is a very good club and I feel ready for the big leap in my career.
“I have experience from Euro 2004 and the Champions League, but the leagues in England, Spain and Italy are the biggest and I want to play with the best.”
Wilhelmsson, who made his debut for Sweden in January 2001, did not feature in his country’s Euro 2004 qualifying campaign but caught the eye of some notable judges in the build-up to the finals in Portugal.
After shining in friendlies against England and Portugal, he played in all three of their group phase games before they bowed on penalties against Holland in the quarter-finals.
Spurs are also poised to sign Czech Republic youngster David Limbersky on loan until the end of the season.
