Tottenham sign Czech midfielder Limbersky
Tottenham are poised to sign Czech Republic youngster David Limbersky on loan until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old will join in the January transfer window on a six-month deal, with Tottenham having the option to sign him permanently in the summer.
Limbersky is currently with Czech second division side Viktoria Plzen, but he has pedigree having represented his country at under-21 level and played in Serie A for Modena last season.
Tottenham director of football Frank Arnesen is optimistic the new recruit will be able to make a smooth transition to the Premiership, having earmarked him for first-team duty.
Arnesen told the club website, www.spurs.co.uk: “He is one for the first-team squad now and is technically very good.
“He already has experience in Italy and I look forward to seeing him develop here. David is quick-footed, has good awareness, is an intelligent footballer and can play on either side of midfield.”
Limbersky said: “I am happy, it is superb. I cannot wait for my chance to play in England. I have always dreamt about playing there and even a week preparation impressed me enormously.
“We did not play any friendly, but I felt I was doing well during the training sessions. It was a demanding week, but I gave everything to it. It paid off.
“There are many stars in the team, but in the post of right edge midfielder they take turns. The coach promised me that I would get my chance.”
