The former Liverpool midfielder is serving a one-match suspension after being sent off at Crystal Palace last week.

Andy Todd picked up an ankle knock in training this week but manager Mark Hughes is confident he will be fit to continue his partnership with former Everton player Craig Short at the heart of the defence.

Provisional squad: Friedel, Enckelman, Dickov, Short, Douglas, Emerton, Ferguson, Flitcroft, De Pedro, Gray, Johansson, Matteo, Neill, Stead, Pedersen, Gallagher, Reid, Todd, Bothroyd.
