Birmingham maintained their Premiership dominance over Aston Villa as goals from Clinton Morrison and David Dunn moved them away from the relegation zone in a pulsating Villa Park derby.

Steve Bruce’s side are now unbeaten in five meetings with their bitter rivals since gaining promotion two and a half seasons ago.

A dreadful error by Villa goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen gifted Morrison the opener and then Dunn grabbed the second to leave the home side a mountain they never threatened to climb, although Gareth Barry scored a consolation effort in injury time.
