Stone back in for Portsmouth

Caretaker manager Velimir Zajec was given a welcome boost today in Portsmouth’s first game since the resignation of Harry Redknapp.

Former England midfielder Steve Stone returned to the team for the first time in two months following an Achilles problem.

Goalkeeper Jamie Ashdown remained between the posts, with Shaka Hislop still troubled by a hamstring injury and unable to start.

Zajec was hoping to turn Portsmouth’s fortunes around after three successive defeats.

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce made two changes to the side which gained a point at Stamford Bridge against leaders Chelsea last week.

Ivan Campo and Stelios Giannakopoulos returned to the starting line-up, with Kevin Nolan and Henrik Pedersen stepping down to the bench.

Bolton: Jaaskelainen, Hunt, Jaidi, N’Gotty, Gardner, Okocha, Campo, Speed, Diouf, Davies, Giannakopoulos.

Subs: Nolan, Pedersen, Oakes, Hierro, Ben Haim.

Portsmouth: Ashdown, Primus, De Zeeuw, Stefanovic, Griffin, Taylor, Stone, Quashie, Berger, O’Neil, Fuller.

Subs: Harper, Berkovic, Faye, Cisse, Wapenaar. Referee: S Dunn (Gloucestershire)
