James Chambers scored twice as Watford tipped timid Southampton out of the Carling Cup with an exhilarating second-half show.

One up at the break through Bruce Dyer’s powerful header, the Hornets added three in 20 minutes after the break with Chambers striking twice and Heidar Helguson also on target.

Substitute Hameur Bouazza added a fifth in between two late consolations for Southampton by Dexter Blackstock and Brett Ormerod.
