Celtic striker Chris Sutton was today ruled out of the CIS Insurance Cup quarter-final showdown with Rangers.

The versatile Englishman has been out with a chest-shoulder injury and he has no chance of making the Old Firm clash.

Stilian Petrov is causing O’Neill more concern having aggravated a shoulder problem in the weekend win over Kilmarnock and Bobo Balde is fighting to shake off a similar injury.

The injury situation means that Bobby Petta has delayed having his contract ended to boost numbers for the trip.

Provisional squad: Marshall, Hedman, Douglas, McGovern, Varga, Sylla, McNamara, Juninho, Pearson, Lambert, Lennon, Petrov, McGeady, Hartson, Agathe, Wallace, Cuthbert, Beattie, Thompson, Valgaeren, Petta, Camara, Varga, Balde.
