O’Donoghue urges FAI to implement Genesis Report
Sports Minister John O'Donoghue has called on the Football Association of Ireland to implement the Genesis Report drawn up in the wake of the Saipan fiasco more than two years ago.
The call follows the forced resignation of FAI chief executive Fran Rooney last week due to unhappiness with his style of management.
He was the third chief executive to be removed from the position in the past four years.
The Genesis Report recommended major reforms of the association to make if more efficient and professional.
Speaking last night, Mr O'Donoghue said: "As far as we're concerned, all we want at this point is to work with the FAI in the interest of the game, but we can't do that until the structures are in place."
