Chairman Theo Paphitis insisted Millwall fans were not to blame for provoking the violence that marred last night’s Carling Cup defeat by Liverpool at The New Den.

The FA confirmed today that they will launch an investigation into the incidents, which began late in the second half as away fans alleged Millwall supporters had made taunts about the Hillsborough disaster in 1989.
