Liverpool lead Lions at half-time
Millwall 0 Liverpool 1
Salif Diao scored a well-taken goal to give under-strength Liverpool a slender half-time lead against Millwall in tonight’s Carling Cup tie.
The Senegalese midfielder slotted home from 10 yards after 18 minutes, but Millwall were perhaps unfortunate not to be level against the Premiership club, who showed 10 changes to the team that defeated Charlton 2-0 at the weekend.
Neil Harris wasted two good chances for the home side and Jody Morris and Marvin Elliott impressed in midfield, but Millwall’s defence always looked vulnerable against the pace of Florent Sinama-Pongolle in attack.
