Double boost for Hoops

Celtic have been boosted by the news that defender Stanislav Varga and striker Henri Camara could both be fit for the Bank of Scotland Premier League visit of Aberdeen on Wednesday.

There was further good news for Hoops manager Martin O’Neill with defender Stephen McManus expected back in training next week after suffering a nasty gash to his knee.

On-loan Wolves forward Camara was forced out of the 4-2 win at Livingston with an ankle injury after a challenge from Emmanuel Dorado.

But a decision on the player’s fitness will be left until closer to the game at Parkhead.

Varga, meanwhile, had a hamstring problem at the City Stadium and was withdrawn as a precaution.

Now the Slovakian has improved considerably and is expected to be ready for Wednesday.

Defender McManus suffered a deep gash to his knee after colliding with advertising boards around the ground in the slippery conditions.

The 22-year-old had numerous stitches in the wound but is expected to return to training next week.

Didier Agathe is set for a return after being rested for the trip to West Lothian following swelling around a knee problem.
