Vassell suffers broken ankle

Aston Villa striker Darius Vassell will be out of action for “an extended period” after the club confirmed today that he suffered a broken ankle during Saturday’s Barclays Premiership game with Fulham.

The 24-year-old England striker suffered the setback midway through the second half after a challenge by Fulham’s Pape Bouba Diop.
