FAI CEO remains in charge after Board meeting
The Chief Executive of the FAI, Fran Rooney, remains in charge of Irish soccer this evening.
Eight members of the FAI Board met at the Alexander Hotel in Dublin today where they spent almost three hours discussing Mr Rooney's performance as CEO.
A short statement was issued shortly after 4pm.
It said the FAI Board is taking further legal advice on the matter and will meet as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the FAI has until next Friday to appoint four executives to run finance, performance, marketing and communications.
Otherwise it could pay the penalty by losing €300,000 of taxpayer’s money.
