Darren Anderton is poised to make his first Premiership start for Birmingham in Sunday’s clash at Southampton.

The former England midfielder has gradually built up his fitness following his move to St Andrews and impressed as a second half substitute in place of Jesper Gronkjaer in the goalless draw with Manchester United.

Anderton’s former Tottenham team-mate Stephen Clemence is added to the squad after shaking off a calf strain.

But winger Stan Lazaridis and midfielder Muzzy Izzet have still not recovered from thigh muscle and knee injuries respectively although they could return to training next week.

Team (from): Maik Taylor, Melchiot, Cunningham, Upson, Gray, Gronkjaer, Johnson, Savage, Dunn, Yorke, Heskey, Anderton, Bennett, Martin Taylor, Clapham, Tebily.
