Rooney asked not to attend FAI meeting

The FAI is holding an emergency board meeting today, where it is likely to sanction an investigation into Fran Rooney's performance as chief executive of the association.

FAI president Milo Corcoran has sent a letter to Mr Rooney, instructing him not to attend today’s meeting.

The Sports Council is threatening to withhold around €300,000 in funding because of the failure to create four new staff positions, a key recommendation of the Genesis report.

Government funding worth €2m to the FAI is dependent on the full implementation of the report.
