Extra time sees Longford through to FAI Cup final
Drogheda United 1 Longford Town 2
Sean Dillon booked Longford's place in the FAI Cup final with Waterford later this month with a sublime extra time winner.
Dillon curled home from 25 yards after 114 minutes of an epic semi-final replay at United Park.
Town performed far better than in the first game and fully deserved their half-time lead. That came on 32 minutes from a superb move.
Paul Keegan’s flicked header put Shane Barrett in down the left and his low cross was shot home at the back post by John Martin.
The bar deprived Dessie Baker of increasing Town’s lead a minute into the second half.
Three minutes later Drogheda were level when Declan O’Brien ran through onto Barry Molloy’s pass to clip the ball over Stephen O’Brien.
