Shearer nets hat-trick as Magpies through

Newcastle eased their way into the UEFA Cup group stage as Alan Shearer and Patrick Kluivert hit the goals trail once again.

Shearer struck on 38, 52 and 90 minutes to claim his second European hat-trick - while Kluivert set the ball rolling after just nine minutes and then added a second three minutes before the break.

Alain Masudi had briefly given the home side hope with a 13th-minute equaliser, but they ended the game with only 10 men after goalkeeper Energy Murambadoro was sent off for handling outside his area two minutes from time.
