Everton boss David Moyes may have nearly £30m (€44.2m) to spend in the January transfer window, according to chairman Bill Kenwright.

Kenwright is nearing the conclusion of a deal with the Fortress Sports Fund, headed by financier Christopher Samuelson.

Kenwright told BBC Radio Five Live: “Hopefully the money – possible £28m (€41.2m), £29m (€42.7m) will be available in January.

“Samuelson will join the board and the investment group will be part of the shareholding. I’ll remain as chairman.”

Samuelson’s initial investment is said to be £13m (€19.1m), with Fortress having the option to increase its holding to a controlling 50.1% share, worth another £15m (€22m).

However, Kenwright refused to reveal the exact amount Moyes can expect to receive but added: “David knows the amount he has got and is very happy with it.

“We have to look at fresh faces in January and in the summer.”
