Eircom League trio Liam Kearney, Kevin Doyle and Daryl Murphy have all retained their places in Don Given's Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad for the October 8 clash with France.

Givens has kept faith with the panel which earlier this month opened the UEFA U21 Championship qualifiers with a 3-0 win over Cyprus before crashing 4-2 to Switzerland in Berne.

That defeat brought an end to a 13-game unbeaten run under Givens but the U21 boss remains optimistic his present group of players can get back on track in Troyes in 11 days’ time.

This means another chance for Cork City duo Doyle and Kearney and Waterford United’s leading scorer Murphy.

Republic of Ireland U21 squad: Henderson (Notts County), B Murphy (Swansea City), Kelly (Tottenham Hotspur), McCarthy (Manchester City), Fitzgerald (Blackburn Rovers), McStay (Leeds United), Capper (Sheffield Wednesday), Foley (Luton Town), Flood (Manchester City), McGeady (Celtic), Potter (Liverpool), Whelan (Sheffield Wednesday), Thornton (Sunderland), Kearney (Cork City), Elliott (Sunderland), Tabb (Brentford), Doyle (Cork City), D Murphy (Waterford United).
