O’Halloran returns to City fold for Dubs

Greg O'Halloran has settled his differences with Pat Dolan and is included in Cork City’s travelling squad for tonight's crunch game with Dublin City at Tolka Park, kick off 7.45pm.

The ex-Irish U21 star and former club skipper has been named along with George O’Callaghan in a 20-man squad and says that he wants to put what has been a “frustrating” season behind him.

“I am itching to play for Cork City again and I really missed playing for the club. I have apologised to Pat and we have made up. I just want to concentrate on getting us back into European football now for next season and, hopefully, I will get a run at some stage tonight,” said O’Halloran, whose last game for the club was the 2-1 home win over Derry City on June 11 last.

“I have patched things up now and I just want to get back to the football,” said Greg.

The one stumbling block to a return to first team duty for O’Halloran tonight is that he has not even played an U21 match in recent weeks.

City’s probable (4-4-2) team is: Devine; Horgan, Bennett, Murray, Murphy; Doyle, Gamble, O’Brien, Kearney; Fenn and O’Flynn.

Vikings boss Roddy Collins' selection options have been boosted by the availability of former Wimbledon striker Efan Ekoku, who missed the 3-1 win over Shamrock Rovers last week due to work commitments.

Collins claims a full-strength squad, although former England man Carlton Palmer is reported as an injury doubt with a thigh injury.

Cork boss Dolan has a fully fit squad to select from following Republic of Ireland under 21 midfielder Liam Kearney’s recovery from illness.
