Valencia move top in Spain
Claudio Ranieri's Valencia moved to the top of the Primera Liga with a 5-1 rout of Deportivo La Coruna.
The defending Spanish champions, controlled the game with four first-half goals from Bernardo Corradi, Marco Di Vaio, Vicente Rodriguez and Francisco Rufete.
They scored a fifth early in the second half through Ruben Baraja before Walter Pandiani managed to score a consolation for the shellshocked hosts.
Atletico Madrid’s promising start to the new season ground to a halt as they went down 1-0 at Ian Harte's club, newly-promoted Levante.
The visitors, who were unbeaten heading into the game in Valencia, were undone by a controversial 20th-minute penalty from Alberto Rivera.
