Benitez springs surprises for Reds v West Brom

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez sprung some selection surprises after his side’s successive defeats in Europe and at Bolton a fortnight ago.

New Spanish midfielder Xabi Alonso was left on the bench, as was Milan Baros, while Steve Finnan made a return in a midfield role along with Harry Kewell, back following a calf problem.
