Rockmount manager Billy Cronin stranded by Frances

FAI Intermediate Cup winners Rockmount bid for a place in the last four of the senior equivalent tonight when they travel from Cork to Munster rivals Waterford United (7.30pm).

Their FAI Carlsberg Cup quarter-final sees the Cork side continue their aim to become the first non-league side to reach the final of the prestigious knock-out competition since Dubliners St Francis achieved the feat in 1990.

But they will have to do so without manager Billy Cronin who was left stranded in Florida by Hurricane Frances and has been unable to return to reland in time for the big match.

There are absentees on the field also for the team which knocked out first division Monaghan United in the previous round.

Forward Michael Deasy, who scored twice in each of the two previous rounds against Monaghan and Portmarnock before that, has knee problems while team skipper Pat Oldham will also be sidelined as he has knee ligament damage.

There is also a doubt about Alan Martin whose hamstring injury leaves him with a 50% chance of playing while Rory Beechinor is also doubtful with a thigh injury.

Waterford, meanwhile, welcome back player-manager Alan Reynolds following injury and suspension while skipper John Frost could return to the left-back berth after making his comeback from an ankle injury last week.

Frost saw his first action for eight weeks in the 3-1 win over Shelbourne at the RSC last week when he came on as a 61st minute substitute. Only long-term injury victim Vinny Sullivan is unavailable for the Blues.
