Souness linked with Magpies job

Graeme Souness is the latest name to be linked with the job as Newcastle manager.

Sky Sports claim the Blackburn manager is set to take over at St James’ Park following the sacking of Bobby Robson.

The broadcaster reports Souness has told his players he has quit the Ewood Park club.

The news comes with Aston Villa dismissing suggestions they are discussing the future of manager David O’Leary with Newcastle.

Villa chief executive Bruce Langham told www.avfc.co.uk: “We haven’t had any approach, but one from Newcastle would not be welcomed and would be rejected. That was the situation on Friday, and that is the situation today.”
