Magpies deny Rooney 'conspiracy'

Newcastle today angrily denied that their interest in England striker Wayne Rooney is part of a conspiracy to secure the teenager’s passage to rivals Manchester United.

The Magpies last night had a £20m (€29.7m) bid for the 18-year-old turned down by Everton and seem certain to step up their interest as United continue to monitor the situation.
