Derry and Shelbourne live to fight another day
Shelbourne 1 Derry City 1
Davy Byrne scored at both ends as Stephen Kenny’s new-look Derry did enough to frustrate Shelbourne and bring them back for a replay of this FAI Cup third round tie at the Brandywell on Saturday week.
The sides swapped goals inside four first half minutes as the game sprung into life.
Shels took the lead on 22 minuets when David Crawley’s free-kick from the right was headed into his own net by Byrne, a former Shels player.
But the Derry midfielder made amends within minutes when equalising with a rising right-footer from Gareth McGlynn’s corner.
