The player kicked in the head by Alex Rae believes the five-match ban imposed on the Rangers midfielder was just.

CSKA Moscow striker Serghei Dadu was left concussed after the clash with Rae in his side‘s 2-1 win in the Russian capital last week.

Rangers have appealed against UEFA‘s decision to ban the 34-year-old, which was made using video evidence.

But Dadu, the Moldovan international who may play against Scotland in October, insisted the initial decision had been spot on.

He told The Scottish Sun: “Brutality should always be punished. A five-game ban is right.

“I felt terrible pain when I was kicked by Rae. I have not seen the incident since and I still don‘t know why it should have happened to me.

“Football is a game for men but you can‘t turn the pitch into a boxing ring.“

The appeal will be heard at UEFA‘s Nyon headquarters on Monday, two days before the Champions League final qualifying round clash is decided at Ibrox.
