Rangers midfielder Alex Rae has been handed a five-game ban by UEFA for gross unsporting conduct.

The 34-year-old was charged last week by the European governing body over an incident during the Champions League final qualifying round first leg against CSKA Moscow.

The former Wolves and Sunderland man appeared to kick CSKA midfielder Serghei Dadu in the head as he challenged for the ball.

The incident was not included in the report from referee Jan Wegereef, who missed the 79th-minute.

But UEFA have studied video evidence of the incident to punish Rae.
