Longford scored twice for the first time this season to leapfrog St Pat’s out of the bottom two.
Graham Gartland got the winner as Town came from behind in a thrilling game.
Defender Gartland looped a header to the roof of the net from Dessie Baker’s 66th minute free-kick.
Stephen O’Brien ensured the points with a brilliant tip over save from a Keith Fahey free-kick.
The sides swapped goals inside a minute in a lively opening.
Des Byrne cracked a free-kick off the Town bar before St. Pat’s took the lead on 15 minutes with Mark Casey scoring his first goal of the season when turning home Keith Dunne’s low cross.
Town hit back immediately with Alan Murphy working a one-two with Dessie Baker to run through and slip the ball past Chris Adamson.
