Paul Doolin’s United crushed Derry City 4-0 at the weekend and can move to within three points of Shels having played a game more if they add the Leesiders to their list of scalps.

Doolin finally looks set to welcome Alan Reilly back to the squad following his hamstring problems, although he faces a fitness test.

Whatever the outcome of that, Doolin may well resist the urge not to change a winning side by handing a start to new signing Tony Bird, who made his home debut as sub against Derry following his move from St Patrick’s Athletic.

City, meanwhile, shook off their InterToto and FAI Cup disappointments with a home win over Waterford last Friday night which pushed them to within 11 points of the leaders with three games in hand.

Pat Dolan’s side could well be unchanged from their 2-0 Munster derby victory.
