Yorke in Rovers squad

Dwight Yorke is a surprise inclusion in Blackburn’s squad for tonight’s friendly at Stockport County.

The former Manchester United striker has been training with the reserves and was left out of Rovers’ pre-season tour of Germany.

Graeme Souness’ three summer signings – Dominic Matteo, Javier De Pedro and Paul Dickov – are also all included in the 17-strong squad.

Scotland international Barry Ferguson will captain the team after recovering from a gash to the knee picked up in Germany, while Peter Enckelman will play in goal with Brad Friedel ruled out for the rest of the pre-season programme with a thigh injury.
