Canaries talk to Danish defender

Norwich manager Nigel Worthington is in talks with Denmark defender Thomas Helveg over a move to Carrow Road.

The veteran wing-back, 33, is available on a free transfer after leaving Italian champions Inter Milan.

In a statement on the Premiership newcomers’ official website, www.canaries.premiumtv.co.uk, Worthington said: “I can confirm that we are in talks with Thomas Helveg, as and when we have anything further to report we will do so.”

Helveg has played most of his club football in Italy, having also featured for AC Milan and Udinese, having started his career with hometown club Odense.

He featured in every game of Denmark’s Euro 2004 campaign in Portugal.
