Wolves get tough with Camara

Wolves have warned they will take disciplinary action against want-away striker Henri Camara if the Senegalese international does not return to training.

Camara wants a move to a Barclays Premiership club following Wanderers’ relegation, but the Black Country club say they will not sell him unless the offer is acceptable to them.

Bolton have offered £2.5m (€3.7m), but it is believed Wolves want around twice that amount for a player they paid £1.5m (€2.2m) to French club Sedan for last summer.

Camara was told to attend pre-season training on his return from international duty on Monday but instead flew to Paris.

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey told the club’s official website, www.wolves.co.uk: “Some clubs would be forced to accept the apparent commercial reality of this situation – it’s better to cash in and make a profit on a player who wants to be transferred to a Premiership club, rather than run the risk of devaluing your asset by keeping an unhappy player.

“Well, we want Henri to play for us; we want him to try his best to help the team win promotion at the first attempt and we will not, therefore, be forced to sell him to another club unless it is on terms acceptable to us.

“We are making a stand for what we believe is right and what we believe is for the good of the game of football.”

Moxey added: “We want Henri to return to Molineux to begin pre-season training immediately. If he doesn’t then ensuing disciplinary procedures will involve on-going fines.”
