Chelsea midfielder Mario Stanic has been forced to retire from the game due to injury, according to the club’s official website.

The former Croatian international, who played 80 games for Chelsea, moved to Stamford Bridge from Parma in June 2000 but damaged his knee in his second game for the club and has struggled for fitness since.

The 32-year-old has one year left on his contract at Chelsea but has decided to hang up his boots, reports www.chelseafc.com.
