Australia international Craig Moore looks to be on his way out of Rangers after he was stripped of the club captaincy and placed on the transfer list.

Moore was determined to play for his country at the Athens Olympics which clashes with the start of the SPL when the Ibrox side will be aiming to regain the title from Celtic.

And, with Moore’s position at the club already in the balance, that appears to have tipped manager Alex McLeish against the player.

“Both myself and Craig have had a discussion regarding his current situation at Ibrox and his desire to play for his country in the forthcoming Olympics,” he said.

“Each of us have our own objectives and I have decided to appoint a new captain for season 2004/05 which I will announce imminently with such important matches at the start of our season.

“Both Craig and I have jointly agreed that the interests of Rangers FC are the priority and therefore he will relinquish the captaincy.

“The club will now make Craig available for transfer at the correct fee.”
