Greece midfielder Stelios Giannakopoulos admitted the 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic in the Euro 2004 semi-final felt like a “dream”.

The Bolton star, a 72nd-minute subsitute, was on the field when Traianos Dellas scored the silver goal seconds before the end of the first half of extra-time.

Giannakopoulos told ITV1: “It’s great it’s just unbelievable. It’s like we are sleeping and don’t want to wake up. It’s a dream.

“We are living a dream. It’s unbelievable.

“It’s a terrific win, that’s the beauty of football. It’s a beautiful day for us, a black day for the Czechs.”

And already Giannakopoulos was looking ahead to Sunday’s final against hosts Portugal in Lisbon.

He added: “Now we have to consider the final as we have only two days to rest.”
