Allen handed new Spurs role
Tottenham have appointed Clive Allen as development coach for next season.
Allen, who scored 49 goals in one season at Spurs in 1986-87, was the reserve team coach last season but will now work with the younger players in the second string.
Tottenham sporting director Frank Arnesen said: “We are very pleased that Clive has agreed to take this position within our new coaching set-up.
“Clive is an excellent up-and-coming coach and of course knows the club well. He will look after the coaching of reserve team players on a full-time basis and I’m sure will be an asset to our team.”
Allen added: “I am delighted to get the opportunity to remain with the club.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time last season and was very keen to continue in a similar role. The chairman (Daniel Levy) has established a fantastic new coaching structure and I am very excited at the prospect of working with individuals of the calibre of Frank Arnesen and Jacques Santini.”
Allen played for four years at Tottenham, and also represented Chelsea, Crystal Palace, QPR, West Ham, Manchester City, Millwall and Bordeaux.
