Liverpool to make 'major announcement'

Liverpool have called a press conference at Anfield for 3pm to make a major announcement.

The club have not given any indication as to what the announcement may be.

Speculation has been rife that captain Steven Gerrard may leave the club and that Michael Owen may agree a contract extension.

The club have also been in negotiations with Thai media company Grammy over possible foreign investment.
