Rooney could make team of Euro 2004

England’s teenage star Wayne Rooney is not a contender to be voted ‘player of the tournament’ but he is line to be included in the team of Euro 2004.

The player and team of the tournament are decided on by UEFA’s technical group including Roy Hodgson, the former Swiss national coach and Blackburn manager, who believes the leading individual will have to come from one of the four semi-finalists.
