Linderoth banned for Danish derby

Sweden will have to do without Everton’s competitive Tobias Linderoth in the Porto clash with Denmark because the midfielder is banned after being booked in both previous Group C matches against Bulgaria and Italy.

The Swedes had made only one change in their two previous games, with Christian Wilhelmsson replacing former Leeds defender Teddy Lucic in the draw with Italy.

Now they have the choice of bringing in Petter Hansson or Celtic’s Johan Mjallby, or using Brondby’s utility defender Andreas Jakobsson in the midfield anchor role.

If either Erik Edman or Zlatan Ibrahimovic are booked in the game at the Bessa Stadium they would miss the quarter-finals should Sweden qualify.

Team (probable): Isaksson, Mellberg, Edman, Jakobsson, Nilsson, Mjallby, A Svensson, Ljungberg, Ibrahimovic, Larsson.
