French trio set for return
France coach Jacques Santini may reinstate Claude Makelele, Robert Pires and Bixente Lizarazu to his starting line-up for the final Group B match with Switzerland where a draw would guarantee the defending champions a berth in the last eight.
Makelele was injured against England and missed the 2-2 draw with Croatia in Leiria but is fit again and should start in place of Olivier Dacourt who had a poor game against the Croats.
Sylvain Wiltord also had a muted game in place of Pires who should return to face the Swiss.
Santini will be concerned about his team’s defensive lapses and Mikael Silvestre has given two penalties away while Marcel Desailly was responsible for the lapse that allowed Dado Prso to score.
Either Desailly or Silvestre should make way to allow for Lizarazu to return at left-back.
Probable team: Barthez; Gallas, Thuram, Desailly (or Silvestre), Lizarazu; Pires, Vieira, Makelele, Zidane; Henry, Trezeguet
