Predecessor builds bridges with Croatia coach
Croatia coach Otto Baric has been reconciled with his most illustrious predecessor Miroslav Blazevic, who has apologised for his criticism of Baric in the Croatian media.
Blazevic, the man who led Croatia to third place in the 1998 World Cup, had blasted the team for their play in the 0-0 draw with Switzerland but has now recanted after the team’s excellent performance in the 2-2 draw with European champions France.
Speaking at the Croatian training camp, Blazevic said: “I am here to show my recognition of the performance against France.
“Congratulations to the team which you can see is improving. I would like to say sorry for what I said a few days ago.”
Blazevic then embraced Baric whose team will reach the quarter-finals if they beat England in their final Group B match at Lisbon’s Estadio da Luz.
