Keogh and Mernagh boost for Kerley
Limerick FC boss Mike Kerley hopes to have Ollie Keogh and Jonathon Mernagh in contention for starting places for tomorrow night’s First Division meeting with Galway United.
Keogh missed this week’s eircom League Cup quarter-final win over Cork City because of a knee problem, and Mernagh was ruled out with hamstring trouble.
However, both players have now recovered and are set to be included in the Limerick squad to face United at the Pike Rovers Sportsgrounds. Kick-off 6.30pm.
However, the bad new for Kerley is that he must plan without Thomas Hughes for the game, as he is suspended for the match.
But he would have missed the game in any case having sustained a shoulder injury in the victory over Cork City.
Limerick lie rooted to the foot of the eircom First Division table, one point adrift of Monaghan United.
But with a morale-boosting victory over Cork City under their belts, Kerley is hoping Limerick can begin to climb up the table.
Galway United currently lie in fifth place in the table, having secured 21 points from 13 matches.
But Mike Kerley has been encouraged by his side’s home performances this season.
“I feel we have been playing well at home this season, even though we haven’t won there in the League,” Kerley said.
“Hopefully Monday night’s League Cup win over Cork City will prove a turning point for us.
“Galway United are going well. They have the finance in place and a good club structure. So they won’t make it easy for us.”
