Denmark and Italy agre goalless after 20 minutes of their Group C Euro 2004 clash this evening.

Italy did not spring any tactical surprises with veteran coach Giovanni Trapattoni having announced his team 24 hours ahead of their opening Euro 2004 game with Group C rivals Denmark.

The highly-rated tactician adopted his regular 4-2-3-1 formation with the powerful attacking trio of Alessandro Del Piero, Francesco Totti and Christian Vieri playing from the start for the first time together in a major competition.

And Denmark coach Morten Olsen followed a week of secrecy by revealing an equally offensive system.

Olsen entrusted the role of suspended leader Thomas Gravesen to Murcia player Daniel Jensen despite speculation that experienced Internazionale defender Thomas Helveg would start in the centre of midfield.

PSV Eindhoven forward Dennis Rommedahl was chosen to replace absent Chelsea winger Jesper Gronkjaer and is playing in a three-man attacking midfield alongside AC Milan forward Jon Dahl Tomasson and Udinese winger Martin Jorgensen, all supporting front man Ebbe Sand.
